About Christopher Shrader
During my graduate school career, I worked on the design and synthesis of prodrugs to improve the pharmacokinetic properties of a novel sphingosine kinase 2 inhibitor. I also worked on the development and synthesis of sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) transporter spinster homologue 2 (Spns2) inhibitors. Through this structure-activity relationship study, I was able to discover highly potent inhibitors that are active in a HeLa cell-based assay. These compounds are active in both intraperitoneal and oral administration in mice as well. I have also developed methods for the umpolung addition of tricyclohexylphosphine to alkynamides. To summarize, I've gained experience and developed the skills for the design and synthesis of a multitude of small-molecule based pharmaceuticals as well as novel reaction methodology.
