Met some of my all-time heroes, and helped save a man's life one time thanks to training I had from my days in the wilderness.

Worked for several years as a Summer Camp Counselor in the White Mountains, mostly for cabins of kids around ages 8 to 12. I also taught swim lessons to hundreds of kids over that time, and became a Wilderness First Responder and a Waterfront Certified Lifeguard. After several summers both on site, and at our former Urban Day Camp location in New Haven Connecticut I was selected to train a set of former campers in their transition to being Counselor's themselves. I laughed, I cried, I learned what it meant to be part of a team, and to feel loved truly.
