As a freelance consultant, I completed more than 50 projects in this period, mostly for the BC public sector. The deliverables were part of the FDA submission for the product. Employed a DITA (XML) documentation framework using FrameMaker and oXygen. Evaluated and developed a checklist for user experience (UX). (2010-11)- Content development for a new BC government portal. Wrote public-facing, audience-appropriate content covering multiple policy domains. Also developed user and content models and designed the information architecture for the site. This work involved running a focus group and compiling usage data to support IA and SEO/metadata strategies, and developing video segments. (2009)- Developing enhancements to the BC government's online voter registration web app, both detailed business requirements and a high-level design. This involved major changes to two web applications, three batch processes, and the overall system architecture. (2008)- Writing a policy document for the BC Ministry of Health concerning privacy issues around the Electronic Health Record (EHR). This addressed legislative, policy, and technical perspectives. (2008)- Editing and restructuring 12 volumes of technical documentation for a Canada Health Infoway/eHealth health-data standards project. (2007-08)- Developing redesigns for two government intranets. This involved running focus-group and stakeholder processes, developing information-elicitation exercises, and building iterative prototypes. One project was designated a best-practice benchmark. (2004, 2005)- Developing eleven annual and long-term IT plans for various ministries. The 1997/98 annual plan for Small Business, Tourism and Culture was identified as a model IT plan for small ministries by the government’s IT standards agency. (1995-2005) Show less
