Qualifications and Experience: BEng (Elec) from the University of NSW; Registered Australian Patent Attorney; Registered New Zealand Patent Attorney; and over 30 years in Patent Attorney Practice with FB RICE. Special interests: Photovoltaics has been a special interest over the years with some of my clients being among the worlds leading researchers in silicon device design. I have also taken a strong interest in other aspects of green energy including solar thermal, wind and wave technologies. Having studied Computer Science in my Engineering Degree I have a keen interest in IT matters including leading the F B RICE internal IT projects over many years.Expertice: Drafting of original patent specifications and filing and prosecution of patent applications in US and Europe for Australian and US applicants. Advising clients on infringement,litigation and due diligence issues in respect of IP rights.Positions and memberships include: Senior partner at F B RICE; Fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA); Past President of the Australian Group of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) 2008-2010, Past Co-Chairman of the International Designs Committee of APAA 2003-2009 (with Mr H Aoki of Japan); Member of the Anti-Counterfitting committee of APAA (2013- ); Councilor to the International council of APAA 2003-2012; and Member of Intellectual Prorerty Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ).Specialties: Electrical and mechanical engineering, with particular interest in silicon device fabrication, photovoltaics, analog and digital electronics, IT, industrial process and control, image processing. Also mineral exploration instrumentation and mechanical mining systems.
