Over 20 years’ experience of category management, across branded and private label business, has enabled me to build up a multitude of transferable skills, and a vast array of category knowledge.With experience in ambient categories at Fox’s Biscuits, to chilled prepared foods encompassing desserts, ready meals, pizza, savoury pastry and pasta salads - within Northern Foods, Uniq & Samworth Brothers, through to fresh & frozen poultry with Moy Park. These roles have been varied, often needing to work under my own initiative, to being part of a trio approach of Category, Commercial & Development, through to managing an entire category team. I always thrive on taking the lead to drive projects forward.Throughout my career from Category Executive, to my recent Senior Category Manager & Head of Category roles, my main focus has always been to understand what information is required, obtain that data and interpret the key insights enabling the formation of main recommendations. Whilst working in the food industry, I have worked in partnership with “the big 4”, the discounters, M&S and Waitrose, having a proven record of influencing positive decisions across them all.Time is becoming an ever scarce resource, and when presenting to the audience, irrespective of how long has been spent on a project or task, I ensure the key messages and outtakes are delivered in a concise and engaging way - ensuring a lasting impression.Putting the consumer at the heart of the business, is a cliche often used in the industry, however it is fair to say that if you do not truly understand your customer, the shopper and the end consumer - there will always be a barrier to growth. From interpreting planograms, or promotions, understanding the customer or the consumer and researching products or packaging - I have a wealth of experience and expertise that I can bring to your business spanning all areas of Category Management
