If I'm ever asked at a party, I'll typically say that I work as a Graphic Designer.Truth be told though, after almost ten years of industry experience the truth is that 'Graphic Designer' barely taps in to what I've done in that time, and continue to do so every day.Originally aiming for a career in illustration, I always scribbling away at something since I was a wee tot - influenced by the vibrant and colourful shows, comics and video games I would find entertainment in (and still do to this day). Soon enough I discovered there was a reason I was as fascinated with the end-credit sequences in my favourite movies, or how inner sleeves to my extensive collection of albums often drew my admiration more than the record itself would. From there, it was a snowball effect, pivoting my natural creative tendencies to graphic and digital design practices, and before I knew it I was a full time digital designer creating engaging content for some of the very same IP that had inspired in the first place, working both in-house and agency as of 2016.But while I've loved to create from the first moment I can remember picking up a pencil, what's been most exciting part of working in industry has been learning to apply that joy to the needs of the client, and creating a finished product that not only fits the bill visually, but is coherent and impactful at selling the story behind each and every new brief. From top-level brand design, through multiple campaigns and even down to individual pieces of ongoing content, I've seen and tackled a full range of exciting projects over the years. Mot only have each of these engaged and challenged my skillset in their own way, but have helped me become a better designer and marketer at each step.If you're looking to work with an engaged and bold designer, with experience working with industries ranging from energy, education and publishing to beverages, live entertainment, and more, you'd be hard-pressed to find another like me. I'm most comfortable working on both brand and motion design projects, but am always happy getting my teeth stuck in to something fresh and new.
