In all the years I’ve volunteered and worked in nonprofits; I’ve never seen anything quite compare to the meal packaging experience for volunteers and CSR-focused companies. It delivers a meaningful, impactful, and uplifting service project that helps groups address an increasingly critical need in this country, food insecurity.Throughout every city in this country, families are struggling to provide the most basic of resources on a consistent basis. In California, 1 in 5 people are living close to the poverty line or are one life event away from financial crisis. And while the problem is heavy, and we’re reminded daily of the divisiveness in the country; bringing small groups of people together around a social issue is one of the reasons I absolutely love the work I do.The Outreach Program developed the meal packaging process in 2004 and has helped create a variety of similar organizations doing the same work across the country. To date, The Outreach Program has packaged nearly 600 million meals with nearly 90% staying in local communities and ongoing support for our medical and education initiatives in Tanzania.I work throughout California, Washington, Oregon and Nevada and help companies and corporate volunteers connect with feeding organizations and community partners. By packaging thousands of high-protein meals, food banks and food pantries receive quality nutrient-rich meals for their inventories free of charge. For companies, meal packaging is great team-building opportunity and a way to easily increase employee engagement with our mobile program and can bring everything to you.www.outreachprogram.org
