Responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance and repair of over 160 tools and fixtures. Had greater than 99% production up time for 4 different product lines. • Transferred the CATALYST® II and CATALYST® III production lines from California to Mexico as Project Lead. This included the following:o Evaluated all 88 unique tools to ensure qualifications, drawings, and associated documentation files were compliant with the established quality system.o Ensured that all tooling was coded for import into Mexico and shipped appropriately to minimize both damage to tools in shipment and import fees and taxes.o Successfully set up new production line in Mexico, wrote and executed all re-validation activities, including calibration, Installation Qualification (IQ) protocols and reports on time and within defined timeline.• Designed the layout of Cardiva’s new manufacturing facility in Mexico. This included using DraftSight to design the internal building layout (office space, cafeteria, lab, and clean room), and construction of our 25K sq. ft. facility with 5K sq. ft. clean-room.• Key member of the clean room design and construction in the new Mexican facilityo Helped evaluate parts of a used clean room o Teamed up with Materials Manager to load the clean room parts and ship to Mexico.o Supervised the staging of the components in the order they would be needed during reconstruction. This prepared the re-assembly efficiently.

In collaboration with the R&D department, developed, made, and installed manufacturing tools for the catheter assembly.Collaborated in the development of fixtures that hold components in place during crimping and gluing, ensuring repeatability and efficiency of each catheter assembly process step.• Once the fixtures existed as rough models or hand sketches, used SolidWorks (3D CAD) to refine the shapes, sizes and relationships of tool parts then documented components and tools and fixtures to ASME Y 14.5. • Constructed prototypes of sub-assemblies and whole catheters and the tools to make them. • After we got the above tools installed, wrote Installation Qualification (IQ) protocols, ran the protocols, wrote the reports, and got each new manufacturing tool ready for Process Qualification (PQ).

Clients needed assistance in computer enclosure designs so I teamed with Rick Fayram in his Industrial Design consultancy to develop many products.• Responsible for design, development, prototyping, and production transfer of computer enclosures.• Efficient and effective design for manufacture of sheet metal housings.• Shared in design of computer game hand-helds and high precision instruments.

Developed creative solutions for clients in disciplines of design development planning and management, Industrial Design, Mechanical Design (on par with mechanical engineering), Graphic Design, Trade Show and Exhibit Design and production, and Model Making. Continued serving clients until Rick Fayram asked me to combine my talents with his at Fayram Design.

Established and documented procedures for control of engineering projects; led engineering staff to efficiently establish and document customer expectations in a manner that assured our custom integrated products met the clients needs. Then promoted to Manager Hardware Development. Managed and coached an engineering team of 8 to efficient work methods; Prepared a statement of work (with time estimates) for each engineering project; Edited company-wide procedures to begin path to ISO 9000 compliance; Collaborated with Sales and Marketing to prepare quotes that accurately defined custom projects.

In collaboration with the New Curiosity Shop in-house science teachers, redesigned and documented catalog exhibits; Prepared marketing materials; Managed and constructed exhibits; Reorganized and remodeled workshops for production of research and development models and production of catalog exhibits; Established systems for production planning, document control and production control; Shared in team research and development to further hands-on science learning. Managed and executed projects from initial concept through production prototypes. Duties included: Client contact, conceptual design, human factors, mechanical design, styling, scheduling, vendor liaison, documentation, quality control, prototype evaluation, etc. Designed products to be manufactured in the following materials and processes: Injection Molding (standard pressure, structural foam, and RIM); Sheet Molding Compound; Hand Lay-up and Spray-up Glass Reinforced Plastic (fiberglass); Cast Aluminum (sand casting and plaster casting); Extruding; Sheet Metal (high volume stampings and low volume precision sheet metal); Sheet Plastic Fabrication (vacuum forming and pressure forming); Machining, etc.

Began as design draftsman, by July 1976 promoted to engineering coordinator. Duties included supervision (including scheduling) of 5 design draftsmen; responsible for all documentation for manufacturing. By November 1976 promoted to marketing services: duties included concept design of laminar flow and fume exhaust work stations; prepared proposals including all documentation and price estimating; produced graphic designs for literature; designed displays for Semicon trade shows.
