I am a Graduate of University College Dublin, with a PhD in Biotechnology. I have always been fuelled by an innate sense of curiosity about the world and an impedeing sense of needing to help change something in order to halt climate change, leading me to my choice in degree. I read a great deal and I am a skilled writer as well, with numerous scientific publications. I have won awards for my writing, most notably the Drugs.ie writing award, where I verbalised the argument against legalising marijuana in a newspaper article that was then published in the Irish Independent. I also have experience with public speaking and I am qualified with the Irish Music and Oratory Association.My current position involves a lot of fermentaion based laboratory work as well as group project work, so I have very good team-working skills and I am well versed with bioreactor-lab equipment. I have had part-time jobs in the past, both in retail and service, and I have developed good communication skills as a result. I have volunteered as a Cardiac First Responder and as a helper in a dance-based summer camp for kids between the ages of 7-16 years. I also have good IT skills, with ECDL qualifications as well as programming and bioinformatic experience with Python, R and bash.
