In my capacity as Director of RICS Ireland, a committee established to oversee the professional qualification and standards in Ireland, I am a Board member of the RICS UK & Ireland World Regional Board.The main duties of this position include ensuring that Ireland works in partnership with the UK business so that benefits for members in Ireland can be realised from the affiliate relationship, contributing to the development direction of RICS from the perspective of Ireland and ensuring that new market segments that are under development in the UK are applied appropriately in Ireland

With over 4,000 members, the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland is the leading professional body for construction, land and property professionals in Ireland. Reporting to the Board of Directors, I am responsible for the development and implementation of the Society’s strategic plan and rolling business plan, management of the Society’s finances, leadership of the management team and principal policy advisor to the Board of Directors and Council of the Society.

The Building Control Act, 2007 appointed the Society of Chartered Surveyors as the Registration Body and competent authority for the registration of Building and Quantity Surveyors in Ireland. The Act provides that the professional titles of Building Surveyor and Quantity Surveyor are confined to persons with recognised qualifications, training and experience, whose names are entered on a statutory register.I am responsible for the maintenance of the register, overseeing the operation of the Registration Body Boards in accordance with the Act, provision of an Annual Report to the Minister for the Environment in relation to the activities of the Registration Body, ensuring appropriate application of the Professional Qualifications and Services Directives and liaison with other competent authorities and agencies as necessary.

The Irish Dental Association is the representative body for over 1,700 dentists in Ireland. Established in 1922, the Association offers a wide range of educational and scientific services including publication of the Journal of the Irish Dental Association as well as organising two major educational conferences nationally each year plus as numerous regional CPD events. The Association also actively advocates for better oral health for the Irish population.Reporting to the Board of Directors, I was responsible for the efficient and economic conduct of the administration of the Irish Dental Association and the management of the Association’s head office resources. I was responsible for the full implementation of a management consultancy review of the IDA, including staff restructuring, new corporate governance arrangements and membership services development and consequently developed and implemented a three year corporate strategy for the Association. Responsible for all public relations enquiries, I acted as spokesperson on behalf of the dental profession as required and lead all lobbying activities of the Association.I also represented the IDA at the Council of European Dentists, the European body for the dental profession.
