Commercial Underwriting Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities:Managing and developing FBD Insurances Risk Management Strategies and Policies. Managing FBDs risk management survey programme, which involves managing resources, and identifying and surveying companies with high risks, large risks, unusual risks and claims issues, then writing up risk management reports and ensuring implementation of requirements. Analysing claims portfolios and identifying issues of concern and the action that needs to be taken to address these issues. (Example of portfolios; food processing, manufacturing, retail, farming, construction, public houses, catering, light engineering, etc.).Reviewing and updating the underwriter rates for property and liability insurance products.Project Management including; researching, development and delivery of sales propositions.Reviewing new legislation, regulations and codes of practice and advising the insurance company and clients of what the potential consequences are and the legal obligations that it imposes on affected parties.Advising clients on how to implement safety management systems and on liability and property risk management issues.Writing all the companies risk management technical guidance documents, safety booklets, DVDs and best practice documents.National spokesperson for the company on all safety issues including national and regional TV and radio.Liaising with government bodies, the HSA, industry representatives and other stakeholders on national policy, standards and legislation. I am vice chair of the Farm Safety Partnership Advisory Committee to the HSA.As the company safety manager I am responsible for the implementation and management of the company safety management system. Overseeing the safety and wellbeing of 900 employees at 36 locations.
