- Worked on assessing the impact of the solid fuel regulation on emissions. This involved scenario analysis across key sectors of the economy assessing the impacts on activity resulting from the removal from the market of certain fuels. Similar analysis was conducted on behalf of the Climate Council to assess the impact of the removal of fossil fuel subsidies. In this case a more technical analysis of the price elasticity of demand was required.- Provided analysis of the SEAI’s BER dataset to provide clarity and notice trends within the vast dataset. From the outset, this research has had a policy motivation with the desired outcome being applying these findings in support of government achieving national targets in the built environment sector. - Contributed to the Regulatory Impact Assessment on the introduction of a levy on single-use disposable cups, adding research on the environmental impact of the plastics industry, the waste hierarchy and life cycle assessments of single-use and reusable cups inter alia. - Advising government on the single-use plastic items to be considered under Article 4 of the Single-Use Plastic Directive, and policy interventions which will facilitate the reductions that the directive mandates. - Reported the suggested governance procedures and funding streams for the preparation of a Territorial Just Transition Plan (TJTP) for the Midlands region, before making recommendations on how European funding could be harnessed to create a competitive region. This work involved identifying and engaging with all relevant and helpful stakeholders both inside and outside of the affected region and ensuring community voices were a feature of our recommendations on working toward a just transition. - Conducted real-time analysis of the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on work from home practices and traffic flow, to provide a remote work capacity estimate for a paper on working from anywhere.
