At Techex, I have a broad and varied set of responsibilities, working on projects and support cases that encompass a wide array of products and technologies. My work includes baseband video adaptation, cloud infrastructure deployment, networking and IP video, compression technology, and much more.Throughout my time here, I have built a strong foundation of knowledge in these areas and beyond, including expertise in DevOps with RESTful APIs, Ansible, Python, and container-based workflows such as Docker and Kubernetes. Additionally, I have gained experience with OTT and next-generation contribution workflows, European and North American IPTV and remote production projects, as well as SDN and orchestration project delivery.

As a freelance vision engineer, I worked with NEP on the No. 1 Court at Wimbledon and with RaceTech for horse racing broadcasts while completing my undergraduate degree in Film Production and Broadcast Engineering. I was deeply involved in broadcasts, collaborating directly with clients such as Racing TV, Sky Sports Racing, BBC Sports and ITV to deliver the best possible content. My experience as a broadcast engineer includes seamlessly working with DANTE networks and designing systems for audio and video distribution. I have designed and maintained rack layouts and M&E wiring pathways to support various projects.I gained insightful knowledge and experience in remote production, utilising SRT over IP to transmit high-quality video and audio from the racecourse to headquarters. As an exceptional audio engineer, I managed presenter microphones and sound desks for exclusive interviews on Racing TV's main channel. Additionally, I served as the designated on-site engineer responsible for all technical preparation and delivery at events with attendances of over 50,000.

My dissertation at the University of Surrey focused on upscaling OTT traffic to replace terrestrial and satellite transmission, which earned me the Charlie Sandbank Award for Technical Innovation Projects Runner-Up. Through my work with BT Group's research department, I developed a comprehensive understanding of the industry from both an OB and a broadcaster’s perspective. I possess extensive knowledge of video distribution over IP, having conducted in-depth research into protocols such as NDI, SRT, and others. Additionally, I have set up experiments utilising ports for closed LANs to explore ST-2110 and JPEG 2000, and I am skilled in performing high-level mathematical analyses on bit rate, QoS, and estimated bandwidth for TV distribution over IP.

As a dedicated trainee, I undertook a variety of tasks, including setting up the commentary suite and conducting tests, rigging the OB Unit, and connecting to onsite cabinets. I gained extensive experience operating Grass Valley 400, Ikegami, and Sony RCPs, confidently performing back-focus checks with camera operators and managing camera racks during fast-paced races and paddock sequences on a daily basis. My commitment and focused approach ultimately led to my promotion to Second Engineer on large OB unit productions, a role I embraced with confidence. I also enjoyed extensive travel across the country for broadcasts, further enriching my experience in the field.
