As Outreach and Engagement Specialist, I worked to position the Crop Trust as a leading international development organization to raise the conservation and use of crop diversity higher on the global development agenda. My work focused on expanding and implementing the Crop Trust's outreach strategy through the delivery of digital campaigns, special projects, international events and media engagement. As a communications officer, I coordinated all aspects of the Food Forever Initiative and Crop Trust’s communications outreach, leading in the organization of institutional events and the development of creative campaigns and projects. I also served as media focal point, managed the Crop Trust and Food Forever's online presence and led special initiatives such as the Catan: Crop Trust scenario.

As a Partnerships and Communications Assistant, I assisted in all aspects of the Crop Trust’s communications efforts, including overseeing the Crop Trust's corporate websites and social media presence. I was responsible for managing media requests, copywriting, developing communication materials, and publishing the Crop Topics monthly newsletter. My role in partnerships focused on supporting the development of select private sector relationships and supporting fundraising events.

I was the fourth recipient of the Cary Fowler ’71 Environmental Studies International Fellowship from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. As a fellow, I supported the Partnerships & Communications Team in the Crop Trust’s outreach to current and new donors, including governments and private sector partners.

The Poetic Justice group is a team of critical thinkers and makers who are exploring new forms of justice through art. As a Graduate Research Affiliate, I focused on community outreach and engagement strategies for the projects A Counting and Freedom Radio.

Memphis Tn

Bring It Food Hub, a non-profit local foods distributor in Memphis, Tn is dedicated to increasing access to fresh, local foods and strengthening farmer livelihoods. As an intern, every day offered a new and exciting opportunity to work in the Memphis food community with local farmers, hub team members, chefs and local individuals to get better food to the city of Memphis. My work included but was not limited to: designing marketing materials, website development, and sales and community outreach.

Dublin, Ireland

During my internship at Urban Farm, a non-profit organization in the heart of Dublin, I worked on the Thank Potato campaign, a Dublin-wide communications effort dedicated to highlighting the diversity of the potato. As part of the campaign, we grew over 300 different varieties of potato in up-cycled water coolers and exhibited them throughout the city. The unique displays aimed to incite conversations about the potato as a food security crop and to celebrate the humble spud's historical heritage.

Rhodes Community Heritage Garden

The Rhodes Community Heritage Garden was a campus garden that grew plants specific to the colonial era in Memphis, including okra, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and red beans to connect food inequality of the past, particularly for African American slaves, with food inequality of the present. The garden was a community-oriented space where professors, community members, and students could learn and grow together. As a garden fellow, I oversaw the operation of the garden, including planting and harvesting, landscaping, running the student-led Local Lynx farmers market, budget management, and coordinating volunteers. For the 2013-2014 school year, our main focus was to raise student awareness of the garden, promote permaculture throughout campus, and create a greater connection between students and the local community through the farmer's market.

Germantown, Tn

As a special programs intern, my primary focus was to develop farm park curriculum and design print materials for the Farm Park in Germantown, Tennessee. I also co-taught programs and classes at the Farm Park, aided with the weekly farmers market and managed the children's discovery garden.
