Responsible for providing leadership for all departments reporting to the unit of Enrollment Management (EM) including the Office of Admissions, Office of Student Financial Aid & University Scholarships, Registrar’s Office, College Access Partnerships, and the Office of Transfer Admission & Engagement. Develop, assess, and execute an enrollment strategy in support of institutional and UNC System strategic initiatives. Manage the unit budget. Ensure compliance with all institutional, UNC System, state, and federal policies and regulations. Facilitate strong communication across the institution related to enrollment goals, challenges, and opportunities. Represent EM to the larger campus community by leading or serving on institutional committees. Build key relationships across campus within Academic Affairs and across the institution (Student Affairs, Business Affairs, University Advancement, and the Office of the Chancellor) to serve students and successfully manage enrollment. Major projects/accomplishments: Since 2017, grew Appalachian State University’s overall enrollment by 8%, Grew diverse student population by 27.1% overall (803), and 28.4% among new First Year students (167), Maintained academic profile while growing enrollment and diversity. Implementation of Slate CRM, joined Common Application, Created a strategic vision for and managed implementation of a new approach to AppState Online program delivery resulting in significant growth in online enrollments. Collaborated with Institutional Research to develop new leveraging strategies for merit and need-based aid and new class seat management dashboards to help deans and department chairs plan proactively for enrollment growth. Planned and executed a University-wide Enrollment Symposium to communicate high-level enrollment goals, inform the campus community of UNC Strategic initiatives, and share how Enrollment Management can coordinate with and support academic units and student success initiatives.

Worked with the Division of Strategy and Policy as a contributor to the UNC System Strategic Plan: Higher Expectations 2022-2027 and co-led implementation of the Equity Scholars program. Equity Scholars is a grant-funded collaborative project between the UNC System, College Advising Corps, North Carolina State University, and the University of North Caroline at Charlotte.

Serve on the President’s Cabinet. Responsible for the support, development, and oversight of the Office of Admissions and the Office of Financial Aid. Lead strategic enrollment planning efforts for the College. Set annual enrollment goals in a highly competitive higher education market. Inform institutional strategic planning. Collaborate with the CFO to manage the institutional discount rate, monitor net tuition revenue, and create the Enrollment division budget. Coordinate with Athletics to ensure compliance as an NCAA DII institution. Analyze national, regional, and state trends that affect future enrollment including but not limited to census data, geodemographic information, and federal and state legislation. Assess and implement best practices at peer and aspirant institutions. Support SACS-COC reaffirmation. Present to the Board of Trustees and Board of Visitors. Supervised Admissions Communications Team and Graduate Assistants/Admissions Counselors. Streamlined processes for incoming mail and transcripts resulting in greater efficiency. Drafted sections of the annual report. Directed the Admissions Office in the absence of the Director & Associate Director. Researched accept rates and yield on an annual basis. Managed the transfer decision process. Planned and executed recruitment events (open house, campus visit, and off-campus information sessions across the state).
