I was born in Lima, Peru, to Chinese parents from Guangzhou. In my early childhood I lived in China learning English in an international school before moving back to Peru. Though it was difficult at first because of the culture shock, I’ve spoken to and become friends with a variety of people from different cultures and ethnicities, with differing points of view. Because of my background, I am able to adapt quickly and adequately to different situations, understanding and empathazing with other people. Additionally, I am able to think creatively and logically at the same time. Before coming to IU, I completed my foundation year in product design and that gave me the opportunity to develop some analytical skills that I still use to this day. I learned a lot from this experience, but the most significant thing is teaching me a lot of ways to creatively and logically fix various problems that the users might face.We used a lot of CAD programs and adobe illustrator in this course, which further propelled my prior interest in technology and computer programs. This interest was established in high school after dabbling in various programs like TinkerCAD, Python, and Excel. Because of this, it lead to me want to mix this interest with business, since it such an important part of every day life. The skill sets that I have learned mixed with the new information from my more business oriented classes and interests makes me very enthusiastic about how I can further comprehend the intricacies of my Information Systems major.
