Geographical Information Systems Technician for Kent County Council, Local Government - United Kingdom, in the Assessing Regional Changes to Habitats (ARCH) Project, a INTERREG IV A Project, winner of Avenza Award for Electronic for Mapping by the The British Cartographic Society.The main aim of ARCH was to improve the way in which key species and habitats are maintained, restored and expanded in Kent and Nord Pas de Calais, by means of sharing information and developing methods and methodologies that assess their condition. Main duties: i. Edition of 2010-12 habitat maps at 1:2500 scale using ESRI ArcGIS software following an established methodology and using supporting datasets where available; ii. Use of satellite images and aerial photo to proceed to image classification using ESRI ArcGIS and IDRISI softwareiii. Produce high quality work to ensure accuracy and integrity of the data; iv. Work within strict deadlines and targets set by the GIS Officer in accordance with the Habitat Survey Team Manager; v. Assist other members of the team when required.

Geographical Information Systems Coordinator for the partner Vila Nova de Cerveira Municipality on POCTEP Project Natura Miño-Minho, with Xunta da Galicia and Santiago de Compostela University as partners. The project aimed to Minho River International Basin Hydrologic and Biodiversity Modeling. In these sense main responsibilities were: i. Development of methodologies for the collection, correction, organization and processing of geographic information from different scales, both spatial and temporal. To ensure the accuracy and quality of data (border areas and different areas where coordinate systems do not match; topological correction) and storage in geographic databases;ii. Development of methodologies to ensure interoperability between different types of data and software used in survey; iii. Collection and processing of habitat, infrastructure and obstacles data collected in surveys with Differencial GPS - DGPS; iv. Use of satellite imagery and aerial photography for image classification and data extraction, using different techniques such as supervised classification and object-oriented classification;v. Extraction of different sub-basins of river Minho, from both part of borders Portuguese and Spanish;vi. River Minho bathymetry processing and modeling;vii. Development and implementation of models of hydrological dynamics of all sub-basins;viii. River Minho modeling in order to conserve and manage habitats and species, such as shad, eel and lamprey;ix. Development of WebGIS platform.
