I have nearly twenty years in education working in urban school settings with pre-dominantly at-risk populations. As a teacher, I learned and practiced sound research-based classroom management, instructional strategies, and lesson planning. As a principal, I regularly conducted classroom walkthroughs and worked with stakeholders to create a collegial environment in which leadership is shared, professional practice is made public, risk taking and innovation are supported, and consistent high-quality instruction is paramount.Specialties: My leadership style is driven by three core values: commitment, focus, and results. Commitment is critical in sustaining a shared vision and common understanding of school values, philosophy, and policies. Focus is necessary to narrow gaps in achievement through analyzing data (i.e., qualitative and quantitative) for deep meaning of student learning processes. Results as measured by various assessments and data instruments to determine student achievement and stakeholder satisfaction.
