I am currently a co-founder and COO for Susgrainable Health Foods Inc. Part of a three person team, Susgrainable aims to become a leader in upcycling foods. Beginning with the rescue and re-purposing of spent grain from the brewing industry, Susgrainable has created a healthy flour that can be used as a baking additive or flour replacement. My role has lead me to dive into operations head first. Key accomplishments include a tech evaluation for drying solutions, establishing baking protocols, managing the finances of the company, procuring all current equipment and major supplies, and launching and maintaining the company website.Prior to Susgrainable, I had four years of progressive experience in a complex healthcare organization with focus on areas such as human resource transactions, recruitment of foreign physicians, engagement with internal and external stakeholders, and policy and process development.In my time with Alberta Health Services, I have had the opportunity to gain experience managing a diverse workforce as the Coordinator for Clinical Assistants and International Medical Graduate Sponsorship. In this role, I provide program oversight over the Calgary area, encompassing 100 foreign trained physicians providing bedside care at all 5 hospital sites within the city. In addition to being accountable for oversight of the program as a whole, I am the direct manager of 30 members of this group; with HR responsibility for each of them.I am also responsible for working with stakeholders throughout the Calgary area that seek approval for recruitment. Given the workforce needs in Alberta, this requires many difficult conversations with varying clinics, physicians, and different levels of government. Throughout this, I have demonstrated the ability to remain tactful and sustain positive working relationships.
