Profile bio

About Cody Porter

I often like to think of my career path as a Hero's journey - a call to adventure laden with challenges, overcoming them with help through grit and the help of mentors, and transforming myself along the way. Through this journey I have garnered an abundance of talents and opportunities to hone my skill sets, and I am able to use these boons effectively to uplift my work performance and make impacts on my teams at large. While completing my undergraduate studies in microbiology, I became insatiably fascinated with science and interpreting our world. I learned to value critical thinking, inferring/predicting, empirical data, and utilizing that data to create and analyze results. My studies and coursework set me up to work both independently and collaboratively, and gave me a deep appreciation for interdisciplinary work. This is where I learned that knowledge and skills are transferrable to new environments if you apply them in the correct way, and that often times we can lend our experiences and perspectives in a unique way that may be unconsidered to others. While working toward and after obtaining my M.Ed., I worked in higher education administration in the field of residence life. Living and working at college campuses gave me a unique opportunity to build and foster sustainable communities, where I could use my influence to make an impact on those communities. Working with college students keeps you nimble and busy, and this is an environment where I supervised, advised, coached, mentored, trained, and developed other human beings. These dynamic jobs also allowed for me to sharpen my administration skills such as full cycle hiring, intentional training and development for groups of 150+ people, and build scaffolded curricula that focused on holistic student development. After that, I leaned into my administrative skillset and entered the field of education technology, and became an unmatched juggernaut in filling in the gaps with efficiency. I have been able to synthesize the past decade of my career and actualize it, through means such as streamlining and documenting administrative processes in a neophyte and fast-growing department while maintaining, filing, and creating systems of organizing vast amounts of confidential client information. When I am not being a professional, I enjoy playing video games, cultivating a love of mycology and wild foraging, hiking, and spending time with my partner.I can be contacted at codymbporter@gmail.com.
