I am a conservation scientist, with a background in communications; and a sound-lover with a conservation science degree.As International Engagement Officer I bring together networks of wetland professionals around the world. This includes producing webinars and newsletters, running monthly meetings, and finding opportunities to empower the network memberships. In September 2016 I completed an MSc in Conservation Science at Imperial College London, Silwood Park campus, in collaboration with ZSL, Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, and Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. This built on time working on EIS/EIAs, presenting at two zoos, volunteering in aquaria and a zoo—but also with the broader conservationist's skills built up in the BBC World Service, Chatham House, and more.• Presenting: as a presenter at Paignton Zoo and Living Coasts I delivered a daily schedule of talks about animals, from individual's characters up to the big picture of the species' conservation.• Podcasts, online audio: I ran the Conservation Sound podcast (and others)• Individual interactions: At the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth, I used skills from a decade of interviewing, and learned in Apple Retail, to engage members of the public on conservation issues.• Live events: As part of In The Dark, I have organised and hosted live listening events in a wide range of situations. And I love to put on a show. • RF tagging: My spare-time projects in 2015/2016 included understanding wildlife tagging systems, both terrestrial and satellite, and conservation applications for software defined receivers (SDRs).In addition to this I have a Bachelor's Degree in Chinese and about three years of experience living in China; and production experience at the BBC World Service and Radio New Zealand International.
