United States Fleet Forces Command

Produced and disseminated meteorological and oceanographic products directly supporting the Admiral of United States Fleet Forces and subordinate commands.• Generated and delivered 3,100 meteorological and oceanographic products, 640 tropical cyclone updates, and presented over 500 Four-Star level briefs to military commanders, ensuring safety of navigation for naval assets and personnel worldwide.• Formulated 75 complex tropical weather outlooks during the 2018-2021 hurricane seasons, allowing decision makers to utilize naval assets safely in the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean basins.• Collaborated with Fleet Weather Center Norfolk to ensure the safety of the U.S. Fleet from 12 landfalling hurricanes along the Gulf and East Coasts. Ship evacuation recommendations were communicated to U.S. Navy commanders, protecting naval assets totaling $84 billion.• Produced and disseminated 320 tailored forecasts for military assets providing humanitarian and disaster relief in the wake of Hurricane Dorian in The Bahamas, the 2021 Haiti earthquake, and COVID-19 support in New York City. • Led over 850 meteorological training hours resulting in the completion of 6 Fleet Operations Forecaster qualifications. Training included analyzing and assessing current and forecast weather trends, devising aviation and ship forecasts, and effective communication with decision makers.

Fleet Weather Center Norfolk Deployment Team

Led and supervised the professional development of meteorological and oceanographic forecasters in support of U.S. Navy and Coalition commanders.• Devised and formulated training plans for 94 forecasters supporting 16 global Meteorology and Oceanography deployment teams, directly improving the quality of meteorological support provided in the U.S. Fleet. • Led and supervised the departmental Operational Training Team consisting of 11 personnel who delivered 1,900 training hours, resulting in the successful completion of 56 Meteorological and Oceanographic Forecaster qualifications.• Optimized the meteorological training pipeline by improving communication with external training partners, reducing the overall qualification process from 4 months to 2 months. • Coordinated Fleet Weather Center Norfolk's inaugural command-wide Space Weather training course, leveraging warfare expertise from the Air Force for more than 200 Navy forecasters.

Led and supervised the development and dissemination of tactical meteorological and oceanographic products in support of U.S. Navy and Coalition commanders while deployed.• Led and supervised 8 forecasters in the production of 650 complex aviation forecasts and 70 atmospheric refractive outlooks in support of 2,200 combat flight hours. Delivered precise, accurate, and timely forecasts to pilots and air traffic controllers resulting in zero weather-related mishaps during 105 continuous days at sea.• Led and supervised 2 meteorological deployment teams consisting of 10 forecasters who generated 4,500 shipboard weather observations, 1,500 tailored ship forecasts, 200 environmental navigation briefs, and 230 life-saving warnings and advisories.• Led and supervised 2 forecasters in the production of 210 complex meteorological and oceanographic forecasts in support of 5 ships from 3 NATO countries, resulting in the successful execution of 250 maritime and aviation events in Northern Europe.• Conducted 4 case studies in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean Sea by comparing collected meteorological data with models, increasing forecast accuracy in data-sparse regions.• Led 950 hours of meteorological training and professional development, resulting in the successful completion of 22 Meteorological and Oceanographic Forecaster qualifications.• Awarded Sailor of the Year 2016 at Fleet Weather Center Norfolk for superior performance as a forecaster, leader, and mentor.

Extensive scientific training was provided on the following topics:• Analyze and assess weather, water, and climatic conditions and hazards to produce impact-based forecasts, warnings, and advisories for decision makers. • Interpret and integrate model, radar, and remote sensing data to produce and disseminate meteorological and oceanographic support products and services.• Evaluating numerical model performance to quantify the accuracy and reliability of future performance. • Analyzing hydrographic features and elements on nautical/navigation charts and forecast meteorological and oceanographic conditions on synoptic, meso, and micro scales.• Successfully completed the U.S. Navy’s Advanced Meteorological and Oceanographic (METOC) Forecaster qualification.

Fleet Weather Center San Diego

Produced and disseminated meteorological and oceanographic weather services supporting U.S. military air and surface assets worldwide.Maritime Forecaster:• Generated and delivered 410 accurate and timely tailored ship routing forecasts in support of U.S. military and civilian merchant vessels, directly contributing to the safety of navigation.• Collaborated with senior meteorologists to co-create 15 ship divert recommendations and 30 ship advisories due to hazardous winds and seas along customers' track. Alternate track recommendations resulted in safe navigation to customers' destinations.• Assessed and analyzed current meteorological data to produce 190 surface analyses for the northern and southern hemispheres. Synoptic weather systems and areas of heavy winds and seas were annotated, providing U.S. naval forces with the latest hazardous areas. Aviation Forecaster:• Developed and delivered 390 Flight Weather Briefs (DD 175-1's) supporting U.S. Navy and Air Force aircraft assets totaling $18 billion. Tailored flight forecasts included flight-level winds, hazardous weather, turbulence/icing, cloud cover and ceilings, AIRMETs and SIGMETs, visibility restrictions, and local warnings/advisories at takeoff and landing locations. • Produced and disseminated 45 airfield weather warnings and advisories, and 215 Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts (TAF's) in support of 15 naval installations across the western United States, directly contributing to the safety of flight navigation.• Led over 70 hours of meteorological and oceanographic training, resulting in the successful completion of 5 Maritime and Aviation Forecaster qualifications. • Completed the Surface Weather Observer qualification, providing the ability to use and operate the Automated Surface Observation System (ASOS) utilized for data acquisition.
