Director of Ocean Research Services (ORS) Ltd: Ocean Research Services provides consultancy for research ship builds, conversions, and multi-discipline science delivery operations, working with ship owners, builders, suppliers, designers and build teams.ORS works with clients to develop the concept of the ship design, reviewing scientific sampling, survey and handling requirements required to support modern multi-purpose research ships. This includes portable sampling and handling equipment, equipment integration with ships systems, and commissioning trials.Head of Strategic Projects, National Marine Facilities, UKI hold the position of Head of Strategic Projects at the National marine Facilities (NMF) located at the UK National Oceanography Centre. This role targets ship and equipment technology projects relating to current and future marine science delivery, and process and resource delivery projects across the organisation.My previous role as UK Programme Manager: (Natural Environment Research Council), was responsible for long-range planning and commissioning of the NERC National Marine Facilities marine science programme, accountable for programme delivery and its component projects across the UK fleet of multipurpose research ships.I was a member of the EU Marine Board expert working group developing the foresight report on the ‘Next generation of European Research Vessels’, Chair of the European Ocean Facilities Exchange Group (OFEG) for three years and Chair of the OFEG Technology group for ten years. OFEG works with EU research ship operators to exchange ship-time and marine science equipment across international marine science programmes. The OFEG Technology group operates to exchange expertise and technical knowledge to promote exchange of large capital equipment, knowledge, and experience, developing OFEG from a ship exchange organisation to one that is capable of delivering scientific facilities across all OFEG platforms.
