Alec Farrar Ltd is a small family operated company with a large reputation for quality machined precision parts, used extensively in the marine, agriculture and automotive industry. I am responsible with the setting and operating both Lathe and Milling CNC Machines, with the capability to accurately machine parts down to a 0.01mm tolerances. Machines are set to produce results that match given engineers’ drawings and fulfilling customers’ orders on time. I am also responsible for the running of our Automatic Lathes department. In this department, stainless steel studs are mass produced for use in marine jet powered engines. We must ensure that all parts meet our tight tolerances and high quality standards, as we complete and deliver our orders on time.Since October 2014, I have been directing part of my attention towards modernising and increasing the Health and Safety standards of the company to meet with new law as set out by WorkSafe NZ.Since the beginning of this year, I have been training to operate a state of the art plastic 3D Printer as part of the businesses ambitions to expand operations and abilities.

I have worked for this recruitment agency on 2 separate periods while living in Sydney. I worked in the warehousing industry both driving forklifts and carrying out general warehouse duties as required. I spent almost 6 months working at Rapee Cushions and Furnishings, where I was required to pack orders of cushions for delivery to Freedom Furniture and Spotlight stores throughout Australia and New Zealand. I also spent some time working in a central warehouse which dispatched infomercial products to smaller warehouses through Australia. This position involved driving forklifts and packing shipping containers for dispatch.

Broken Hill North, New South Wales, Australia

In this role, I worked one on one with the station manager on an 180,000-acre outback sheep farm. This job was taken on in order to attain a second year working holiday visa in Australia. Whilst working on the farm, I helped with stock work, tending to the 30,000 sheep on the land, and carrying out various other tasks including lamb marking and shearing. One of the largest duties to be carried out in such a role was farm infrastructure and machine maintenance. This included laying new pipelines, vehicle and aircraft maintenance and fencing. This position gave me the ability to work solo on tasks and also closely with another person when required. This working environment was socially isolating, however I adapted well to the situation and shows that I can be flexible and adaptive to work environments.

I was initially hired as a part time member of the floor staff team while completing my studies, I enjoyed working as part of a team and helping customers. Following 8 months in this role I was transferred to working as part of the warehouse team on a full-time basis. I was then promoted to head storeman 6 months later. In this role, I was responsible with ensuring that all stock was received and scanned into the warehouse system. This involved unloading the truck safely, completing the necessary paperwork and the scanning the products onto the system. I was also partly responsible for allocating stock to various staff members for merchandising

Responsible for carrying out all general duties associated with laying synthetic sports surfaces, from base preparation, carpet laying and positioning, and also distribution of infill by use of tractor. The company also carried out maintenance of pre-existing pitches. Towards the last 3 months of my employment with this company they ventured into stadium seating, and I was involved with installing both fixed and mechanically retractable arena seating.I terminated my employment with this company in order to return to University.
