The key to the college application process is strategy. I help students and their family to:• Create a balanced college list around financial and academic fit • Select optimal high school classes that preserve college major options• Scaffold student involvement in summer and after school activities• Select teachers to write letters of recommendation• Decide whether to apply Early Decision or Early Action• Maximize scholarships and college merit awards• Keep track of deadlines and work closely with students in the application process • Showcase activities in a cohesive and well written personal statement that tells the student’s story• Prepare for interviews and write letters of appeal. In all cases, my job is to preserve as many options as possible and ensure that the student and their family feel confident in the decisions they make. Thirty percent of the college application is the student transcript and test scores. Sixty percent comes down to the experiences students have outside of school as reflected in their extracurricular activity list, personal statement/ supplemental essays and letters of recommendation. I specialize in mentoring students to learn how to achieve authentic excellence by:• Implementing student passion into practice• Creating opportunities to demonstrate their creative interests in measurable ways (e.g., leadership positions, awards). • Creating new opportunities that allow students to grow in self-confidence and practice adult-level problem solving The outcome is a fulfilled student with a well-written application that allows college admissions representatives to visualize the student they are bringing to campus. Also available to give workshops (e.g., overview of college admissions, financial aid resources, building a balanced college list, extracurricular activities that impress colleges, writing the personal statement, why test scores still matter, and writing supplemental essays).

• Helped manage a multi-million dollar foundation with the goal of saving lives around the world• Developed collaborative relationships with local and international charity partners, including Medical Teams International, US Dept. of State, Gates Foundation, and Madaktari Physician Training Partnership program.• Identified, organized and facilitated cross-functional teams to develop collective vision and actionable outcome-based strategy. • Engaged in performance improvement analysis to assess project efficacy, identify future opportunities for improvement, and provide specific recommendations for improving project outcomes.• Leveraged initial funding to strategically attract ongoing support from large financial grants/partners.

• Hired by national organization to develop specialized curriculum to prepare teachers for Advanced Placement Human Geography.• Primary consultant sought after for teaching curriculum across Midwest and Northeast. • Assisted with development of AP Human Geography Annual Exams to ensure reliability and validity of test questions, and served as Exam Reader.• Delivered workshops at National Council for Geographic Education and Association for American Geographers linking research and practice, particularly around concepts of population and scale.

• Conducted extensive semi-annual evaluations to provide feedback to Program Directors requiring interviews among stakeholders within each school district and statistical analyses across 11 school districts. • Participated in cross-functional teams among funders and organization leaders to assess program needs, ensure alignment of program outcomes with vision, and recommend concrete solutions.• Facilitated workshops with teachers and administrators geared toward strategic change, with topics ranging from consensus building and buy-in to data driven decision making and capacity building.
