• Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease in which it may be difficult to get air into the lungs. This is a disease that not everyone knows about.
• For this program, I spent three months volunteering by empowering the parents and/or guardians of pediatric asthma patients in the PICU with more information on efficient asthma management.
• I was trained for the experience by being taught how to properly greet patients, how to find out if they understood what was taught, and how to bring the patients to a greater level of understanding of asthma literacy.
