Responsible for daily operations in Process Development’s Fermentation Pilot Plant. The responsibilities encompass all the activities involved in carrying out PD experiments with bacterial and CHO culture processes. The activities are; cleaning, sterilization, batching, and inoculation of bioreactors; preparing media and solutions; performing cell counts; operating harvest equipment; process and equipment troubleshooting; and experiment data recording and collection. Also, partner with other shift personnel, Process Development and Process Development Engineering staff to carry out complex experiments for the development, characterization and validation of products and technologies. In addition, the job includes the improvement and creation of standard operating procedures, implementation of new technologies and equipment, participation in continuous process improvement efforts, and coordination of processes and experiments.

Ensure that safety is the highest priority and maintain the highest cGMP compliance and inspection readiness. Responsible for cleaning and sterilizing vessels, preparing solutions, operating fermenters, centrifuges, and purification systems. Carefully review all documentation and check all calculations (e.g. tickets, labels, equipment readings). Troubleshoot equipment and process problems. Support process improvement efforts. Operate computers for process control and data entry. Participate in staff and shift change meetings.
