Their back office and operational functions have typically generated less interest as they do not directly help to bring in revenue to the company. However, due to an influx of data and regulatory burdens, buy side firms are increasingly focused on utilizing automation and streamlining pre and post trade processes such as fund distribution, onboarding, documentation, reconciliation, settlement, and reporting. This comes in conjunction with a need to manage their data effectively and find a golden source. Overall, they want to be able to make their operations more efficient and ensure effective reporting/compliance while reducing their costs.
