Inspected, serviced, and repaired floating aids to navigation. This included the lighting systems, anchor chain, and concrete sinkers. I operated a 60-foot telescoping 20-ton hydraulic crane and various hydraulic winches to lift and move steel hulled buoys. I handled tag-lines to prevent the buoys from swinging, activated the deck winches, and connected and unconnected shackles to the buoy and chain. Maintained over 100 aids to navigation paper binders which contained chain, hull, and position information for an individual buoy. I updated and corrected nautical charts and all required publications in accordance with weekly local notice to mariners. On the bridge team, I drafted cutter smooth and weather logs as well as made entries into ATONIS buoy data information system, recorded synoptic weather that was sent to NOAA, and stood look-out and helmsman watches. Performed as a boat crewmember aboard cutter boats.
