From a young age, I have always had an interest in mechanics and engineering, having been around and worked on cars. After leaving school I set up my own company as a sub contracted tree surgeon. After a year of running my company successfully, I decided that I needed a change. I discovered the world of 3D Printing on a flight to Florida in one of the Sky Mall magazines. They were talking specifically about the use of biomedical 3D printing and the advancements to the scientific community it could contribute. When I returned back to the UK, I started to do my own research into field and looking at where I could place myself. Not having the standard qualifications for the industry, I looked to contact companies to ask where they would recommend I start my career. 3DPRINTUK offered me an internship with them a month after I started my search. It was during this internship that I started to understand the practical applications the technology has, and how it will help to change the way we manufacture components. Since joining the company as an Intern in December 2013, I have worked my way up to sit as the companies Operations Manager. It is my job to ensure the smooth day to day running of the business including customer liaison, contract management, company Health and Safety and business development. During my time here, I have managed projects such as the design, manufacturing, assembly and delivery of the Hockey World League Trophy, the printing of Tottenham Hotspurs new stadium to assist with advertising deals. I have written a published article for Imagine Publishing and was awarded The 2017 Manufacturers Top 100 Award for inspiring leader in the field of manufacturing.
