As part of the team developing Rapyuta's autonomous outdoor inspection and telepresence system, I worked on projects ranging from implementing control algorithms for autonomous take-off and landing, to designing and prototyping hardware for our quadcopters and ground station to integrating task commands into our navigation stack. Never a dull moment!

At Rapyuta Robotics, my responsibilities range from doing maintenance, debugging and assembly for our fleet of quadcopters, to writing code for acrobatic aerial demonstrations, to designing and prototyping various components to interface our robots with objects like badminton rackets and nets.

At Thalmic Labs, I worked on numerous aspects software responsible for gesture recognition on the Myo armband, including parts of the benchmarking system used to evaluate the effects of various parameters and the performance of different methods.

Singapore, Singapore

In Singapore, I developed and implemented a Kalman filter-based algorithm for estimating the mass of an electric vehicle in real time, solely using information available on the CAN bus, achieving an estimate accuracy of 1.5% absolute mass. Aspects of this project included data fusion, on-road testing and CAN bus characterisation for the test vehicle.

My main research focus was on autoassociative (cleanup) memory for symbolic manipulation realized in spiking neurons, and how to implement a learning rule to simulate the acquisition of new concepts. I also worked on using reinforcement learning algorithms to simulate rat behaviour in a virtual environment designed in Blender.

As part of the Radio Algorithms group, I helped develop physical layer signal processing software for 2.5G, 3G, and 3G LTE radio networks (GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS). I also worked on automated tests and test frameworks for both simulation and target hardware.

My responsibilities at P&P Optica mainly consisted of preparing technical drawings for optomechanical components, such as lens assemblies or shutter holders. Being a coop student, I also involved with various other projects around the company, including setting up laboratories and helping out with the software development team.

As part of my work term with Natural Resources Canada, I worked at the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing developing GUI's using wxWidgets (in C++) for their in house Hyperspectral Image Analysis Software.
