Worked under Professor Carol Parish, Ph.D, using computational methods of molecular dynamics to study the interactions and binding affinities of all potential binary and ternary complexes of kinesin light chain 1 (KLC-1), c-jun amino-terminal kinase-interacting protein 1 (JIP-1), and amyloid precursor protein (APP), proteins thought to be involved in Alzheimer’s disease. Molecular dynamics methods were also implemented to computationally verify the binding motifs of a previously proposed CCR5/CXCR4 dual tropic inhibitor, as well as to propose a synthetically accessible, and a theoretically tighter binding derivative.
