Almost all of us have a title that describes our current role. Titles can be useful and have a place, but really that title is just shorthand for the unique and interesting experiences that each of us have that led us to this particular moment in our lives. For me, that has been a 10 plus year journey through several different aspects of manufacturing operations and engineering for a CPG company. And even more importantly, a 10 year journey through my life outside of work! My journey has seen me lead several different teams of engineers across the world to design and implement a global process solution that fits the local needs. Spoiler alert: The most important local need was learning to say “Thanks!” in their language! It’s also seen me learn how to implement Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) pillars as a Site Pillar Lead and navigate change in an organization with lots of history as an employee and as a people manager of those impacted by that change. Bringing people together to see how they can improve processes and make something great together was hard at times for sure but also exciting and energizing (except when it was exhausting).
