I'm a postdoc, but the path I took to get here is anything but traditional. I graduated from LSU in 2005 and went to work for a small Danish company, Welltec, that builds robots for the oil and gas industry. I spent just under 7 years at the company and will forever be grateful for the opportunities I was afforded. Personally, I was able to travel and see parts of the world I never would have visited otherwise. Professionally, a mentor placed me on a fast-track path and it motivated me to push myself to find my true capabilities. Ultimately, it was this desire to challenge myself that led me to leave Welltec to pursue a graduate degree in Physics. Grad school brought the opportunity to be a hands-on member of the team responsible for improving the sensitivity of the LIGO detectors, and I'm proud to say that my work led to direct improvements.Now, I'm working at NASA Goddard on hardware development for the LISA mission that will place a gravitaitonal wave detector in space. I'm currently modeling the effects of micrometeoroids and developing procedures for testing prototype hardware.Outside of work, you can find me kayak fishing, hiking, or playing disc golf or baseball.
