In late 2011, I directed my play, "In the Maze of Our Own Lives," inspired by the history of The Group Theatre (1931-1939), to launch the 34th and last season of TJT, the theatre I co-founded in 1978. For more, go to http://storypassage.com/tjt-the-group-theatre-and-in-the-maze-of-our-own-lives/

Up to now, I have done this kind of work only as my full schedule with TJT permitted. Now, as the leadership of TJT has shifted to a younger generation, I am both available for, and extremely interested in this other aspect of my life's work.I guide people - non-writers - in creating book proposals and writing sample chapters. I also work as a creative editor with established writers. I design and present workshops that jump-start people's creativity as well as workshops that provide essential skills and processes for the creation of solo performance projects; I also coach solo performers in both creating and performing. I train managers in presentation skills, including voice, storytelling and presence. I write plays, screenplays, short stories and creative non fiction.

In October, 2009, I played Rabbi Saunders in "The Chosen" at Theatreworks, the largest professional theatre in the South Bay. It was the first time in over 30 years that I acted in a major prodution for any theatre besides TJT, which I co-founded in 1978. Since my relationship with TJT has opened up, I look forward to more work with other groups in the area as both an actor and a director.

I recently married Emily Blunt and Jason Siegel (playing a judge) in the forthcoming, "Five-Year Engagement," produced by Judd Apatow. Before founding TJT, I worked in L.A. in film and television in, M*A*S*H (I was in the original Altman film and also one episode of the TV show); McCabe and Mrs Miller, Funny Lady, All in the Family, Sanford and Son, Barney Miller, Sunshine and Welcome Back, Kotter, among others. More recently, since moving to the Bay Area, I've appeared on TV in the final season of "Frasier," in the films "Final Analysis," "Bee Season" and "Us" a locally produced indie starring Michael Navarra and Alanna Ubach.

For 34 years TJT was an ensemble theatre known for innovation, company created works and adventurous productions of both new plays and classics. Based in its own state-of-the-art 98 seat theatre in San Francisco, TJT presented an annual season of plays, autumn through spring andl toured.
