About Corey Garrison
I recently resigned from TxDOT as an Engineering TECH II to pursue a career in engineering/construction project management. My experience is well diverse and well encompassing in Project Management. My duties included all project life cycle responsibility's, including but not limited to project initiation, planning, execution, control, and closing out the punch lists). I maintained responsibility as the established POC for contractors and cross function teams.Maintaining daily contact with each entity and responded in a timely manner to questions concerns, and requests. When a problem arouse I would consult with the engineer to mitigate the issue and/or manage the change order for any deviations to the plans. Daily inspections of the job site and preformed bi-daily consultation with the Contractors regarding project scheduling, progress, and filed other documentation as needed. Performing routine inspections of sites to ensure work was done up to code, documenting any deficiencies found and relaying this information to the Contractor with a 72-hour compliance policy to resolve such deficiencies. Took samples of concrete and tested its compression strength for quality control. Submitted daily work reports and paid out the contractors for their work done for the week and/or made installments per completion of milestones. Kept records of SW3P's on each site to ensure storm water runoff did not contaminate the environment. Performed complex computations to determine payments and the estimation of project completeness. Recorded all events in a daily work report and consulted with my superior as well as all project member entities regarding on site progress, upcoming plan execution, and possible setbacks. I would have roughly 3 projects in which was lead on at any given time.
Listed skills include Construction, Project Estimation, Change Orders, Project Management, and 8 others.

Enginering Tech Ii
• As Engineering TECH working for TxDOT I took on the responsibility of managing a multitude of responsibilities centered around a project manager’s role. As the project lead I managed various lifecycle processes of moderate to highly budgeted government transportation construction projects/contracts, ranging from 5 million to 50 million dollars.• These job responsibilities in regards to the management of the overall project lifecycle are applicable from the initial preparation of the projects planning through execution and all the way to verifying punch list completion and directing follow-up maintenance. • During this initial project phase my duties included contributions to the pre-project planning meetings with all the contract entities such as the design engineer, contractors, subcontractors and all other project party members.• While attending these meetings, I would review plan specifications and estimates, go over the project phases and the sequence of each contractor’s role to ensure a seamless execution of project processing, milestone deadlines and smooth transitions between contractor contributions to job functions. • During the execution phase of each project the job responsibilities centered around, Leading, assigning, reviewing, and monitoring the work of the contractors.• I managed the implementation of efficient planning, coordinating, and handling of multiple projects within responsibilities to meet short and long term deadlines. On average, I would manage 3 ongoing projects consecutively while being a contributing factor in other team member’s projects. .• When a problem arouse I would consult with the engineer and contractors to mitigate the issue and/or managed any change orders if deviations to the plans were deemed necessary after installation.• Took samples of concrete and construction materials and tested its compression strength and grade classification for quality control.
Assistant Project Manager
Here I was a project manager in training for a electrical subcontractor who was work consisted of commercial and industrial jobs. I would shadow Senior Project Managers, sitting in on weekly meetings that collaborated all project entities i.e. general contractor subcontractors to coordinate that weeks work to be done on any given project. Most projects work consisted of new commercial construction and industrial renovation/maintenance. I acquired a number of certifications including OSHA and various large equipment such as boom lift training. Most of the first year consisted of shadowing the employees install electrical fixtures half of the day, spending the remaining time with the project manager I was assigned to at the time. I was exposed to you on the job training from the ground up so I was able to learn what type of obstacles are faced during construction, such as a lack of communication between subcontractors causing time delays or change orders. I was able to use this knowledge when going over the plans and developing the projects timeline and cost estimation.
