My primary research interests are at the intersection of (bio)analytical chemistry, metabolism, toxicology, and the environment, which include structural elucidation, metabolomics, mechanisms of toxicity, and metabolite repair.I spent the last five years as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) in untargeted metabolomics and metabolite repair in the groups of Associate Professor Carole Linster and Professor Emma Schymanski. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Toxicology at the University of California, Davis, where I researched the environmental fate of pesticides using LC-MS and GC-MS. I spent a year as technician conducting GC-MS-based chemical ecology research at the USDA Agricultural Research Service (Albany, CA) in the lab of Dr. John Beck. My Ph.D., also in Environmental Toxicology, was conducted at the University of California, Riverside with Chancellor Cynthia Larive. My focus was on environmental metabolomics, studying the metabolic impact of pesticides on red earthworms using NMR, GC-MS, and LC-MS. Notably, the work led to the structural elucidation and discovery of a novel metabolite, beta-L-malyl-L-glutamate in earthworms. In 2019, I moved to Luxembourg to join the H2020 SinFonia project where I develop untargeted LC-HRMS/MS analytical and computational methods to identify (fluoro)metabolites in engineered bacteria. My postdoctoral work has also focused on elucidating enzymatic side products (damaged metabolites) and the metabolite repair enzymes that convert them back to useful metabolites.
