Time and again, I’ve been told to ‘think outside the box’ and ‘be yourself.’ Yet when it comes to resumes, interviews, and presenting my work, I should act different, dress a certain way, and adapt everything to fit into how others feel I should be. For me, that’s hypocrisy - something I don’t – wont –do. I am myself, both in my work and my life. Throughout my life, I have been deployed in the Navy as a journalist and met many interesting and different people, I have worked in retail and received a Bachelor’s degree from Academy of Art in advertising, but in all this time I have learned that what is really different is the people. My portfolio of work represents my creative journey, with a lot of learning experiences along the way. I’ve learned a lot, but my most important takeaways are the experiences and memories I have connecting with the different people beside me.
