Leading the activities of the Investor Relations and Public Relations teams at Kazatomprom, the world’s largest uranium producer.As one of only two expats in the company, I am to establish industry-leading, consistent practices and processes for messaging, public disclosure and financial reporting, buy-side and sell-side investment community interaction, international and local media relations, and reputation management, all within a >25-year-old company that has not previously interacted with the international capital markets (IPO in 2018).This role has a particular emphasis on consitent messaging, disclosure and capital markets training across the organization, knowledge transfer, and effective coaching, in order to grow local in-country expertise (for this privatization and for others that are planned), and get employees more engaged with what it means to be publicly traded.As a company spokesperson, I am ultimately focused on enhancing credibility and building a solid corporate brand among stakeholders through effective strategic communications, ensuring Kazatomprom’s securities are fairly valued...and doing so while retaining accountability for teaching others in various corporate functions across the company, how to do the same.

I am leading the Investor Relations Directorate at Kazatomprom, the world’s largest uranium producer, as the company transitions post-IPO from 100% Kazakh state-ownership, to a partial float of publicly traded shares on the newly created Astana International Stock Exchange (AIX), with global depository receipts trading on the London Stock Exchange. As one of only three expats in the company (IR, Marketing and Strategy, HR), my purpose is to establish industry-leading, consistent practices and processes for public disclosure and financial reporting, buy-side and sell-side investment community interaction, and reputation management, all within a >25-year-old company that has not previously interacted with the international capital markets. IR acts as an information conduit to facilitate effective two-way communication between Kazatomprom’s management and board, and their various constituents. The role of manager, risk and insurance at Cameco is quite diverse. I was a charged with oversight and revitalization of the corporate enterprise risk management function, including tracking the status of existing internal and external strategic, operational, and financial risks in a dynamic corporate atmosphere, while scanning for the emergence of new expected (and unexpected) risks in an industry where the only constant, is change. The position saw frequent operational/functional management, senior management, and board of directors interaction, with updates of significant strategic risks reported across the company on a monthly basis.In addition to monitoring corporate risk, I communicated the corporate and industry stories while working with underwriters from the largest insurance companies across the globe, building a complete insurance program (property, liability, D&O, etc) of over a billion dollars in coverage for operations and assets in Canada, US, and Kazakhstan.
