The Engineers Without Borders Design Summit is a professional development program located in developing countries, which allows engineering students to learn about humanitarian engineering, human-centered design, and cultural awareness. In addition to these topics I was able to develop skills in communication, teamwork, and problem solving. Studying these topics while immersed in another culture was a fantastic learning experience for me, and I learnt how to design in complex, time-limited, and resource-limited situations.The program involved living in a rural village in Nepal for a week, where we were able to interview community members and experience their lifestyle. This allowed us to gain insights into the challenges that they faced and helped us design potential solutions to these challenges, which we presented to the villagers and several NGO organisation representatives.
