The Office of Graduate Success has been co-designed to serve as the Ohio Department of Education’s dedicated and focused link to postsecondary and work. The Office is a state-level bridge that links high school students to the world that awaits them upon graduation. The Office is a critical enabler to supporting the state’s efforts to increase annually the percentage of high school graduates who, one year after graduation, are enrolled and succeeding in a post-high school learning experience; serving in a military branch; earning a living wage; or engaged in a meaningful, self-sustaining vocation. The Office will engage closely with and support school counselors, teachers, and school and district leaders to develop and implement systemic preK-12 strategies to help students consider their post-high school paths and ensure they are well prepared to pursue them. To accomplish this, the Office and its team will regularly interact with stakeholders and partners from higher education, business, industry and workforce and state agency partners. The Office aims to emphasize the importance of access to early career, college and military programming that will allow students to learn, through experience, what is required to be successful in life after high school. This work includes efforts to bring real-world learning into classrooms and support student experiential learning outside the school. The Office will support enduring public-private partnerships that foster opportunity for high school graduates who will ultimately fuel the state’s economy.

Provides program direction on behalf of the Senior Executive Director of the Center for Teaching, Leading and Learning. Manages, develops, and communicates work for early-career and college readiness initiatives, including the Career Connections and SuccessBound programming and resources. Works cross-agency on various programs, including credit flexibility, work-based learning, career pathway options, and related topics.

Currently working with the SuccessBound initiative which aims to bring businesses, schools and communities together to help students find career paths. This work aligns with the New Skills for Youth grant awarded to Ohio by JP Morgan Chase. Agriculture Program Specialist - Created and aligned curriculum for the Agriculture and Environmental Systems pathway, as well as verified end of course assessments. Coordinated with various teaching associations, and Ohio Department of Education offices along with Ohio Board of Regents to offer quality programming to teachers and districts. Worked with accountability and technical skill attainment measurements. Worked closely with various career-technical student organizations. Duties include:- Managing, creating, and coordinating professional development for teachers- Overseeing various regions of teachers throughout the state for programming and compliance- Implementing state-wide career-technical education initiatives- Providing guidance and oversight to various aspects of Ohio’s Career-Technical Student Organizations

Taught and created the curriculum for seven courses in the Agricultural Business and Production Systems pathway: Ag, Food and Natural Resources, Plant Science, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Communications and Leadership, and Ag Career and Job Training. All courses in the program are articulated collegiate credit, along with two courses being dual-enrollment courses (Hocking College – Public Speaking and Geology credits). Directing this three-part student education program entails:- Managing and coaching over 20 student contest teams annually - earning many state, district and national - Promoting, planning and hosting several community events ranging from 200-300 participants with scripting and guiding performances along with meal, decorations and sponsor recognition execution- Marketing, recruiting, guiding and planning with over 100 students and families annually for Supervised Agricultural Experiences - Managing all fiscal responsibility of an approximately $40,000 annual budget and executing a $20,000 annual fundraiser, on average- Coordinating district-wide, school-wide and community events - Implemented executive-level leadership training and evaluation among young adults annually- Active communication with parents, administration, students and community members- Daily lessons enforcing and meeting state standards set, including fluent use of the woodworking and welding areas of the laboratory - Maintaining and initiating use of a 56 acre land plot for FFA farming, including budgeting and land maintenance, while collecting data to make future decisions - Supervising students in Career and Job training who are out in the workforce, along with supervising an experiential learning partnership with local businesses- Reporting to and coordinating with the Bloom-Carroll School Board and administration

Taught six major classes: 8th grade Agriculture, Agricultural Science I, Agricultural Science II, Tech Prep Agricultural Science I, Tech Prep Agricultural Science II, and Agricultural Leadership. Within those classes, subject matter ranged from production related studies to communications, public speaking, parliamentary procedure, business, marketing, advertising, and sales. All lessons were geared toward project based, problem solving learning. As FFA advisor, participated in adult education classes, head coached contest teams and coordinate school and district wide events as well as managed marketing and relations. Directed and managed student learning activities throughout the year.
