Covid Response Team Manager/Program Coordinator
Washington D.C. Metro Area
Before COVID-19 I was a one-person department managing volunteer recruitment and services for the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. When the pandemic restrictions suspended our volunteer services, I flexed to partner with the patient advocacy and patient experience teams to put resources in place to continue to support patients as visitation limits restricted their access to caregivers. In this role, I: + Ensured compliance with all Department of Health PPE requirements for front line associates in all hospital lobbies and entrances. + Devised and implemented plans to comply with corporate directives and policies related to inpatient and outpatient visitors. + Tracked and analyzed PPE utilization trends and usage measures for frontline staff in lobbies and hospital entrances. + Assisted outpatient care teams in analyzing and flexing processes around screenings and patient companions, particularly for patients who require mobility and medical advocacy. + Recommended more patient-friendly, service-focused messaging for patient appointments – timing, methods, and context. + Streamlined process for daily communications with up to 600 patients ineligible for visitors during COVID restrictions. In my previous role as volunteer services coordinator, I: + Onboarded and trained 150+ volunteers, including recruiting, interviewing, conducting background checks, scheduling drug screenings, leading hospital orientations and tours, and facilitating department-specific training. + Collaborated with departmental leadership to assess volunteer needs and facilitated manager training to ensure volunteers were valued and of service to departments and patients. + Coordinated and implemented a Way Finding Volunteer Program, utilizing nearly 50 volunteers to aid patients and visitors in finding their way through the hospitals and clinics.
