I serve as the primary strategic, administrative and management officer for the Advancement operation with direct oversight of the fundraising, alumni engagement, advancement services, stewardship, and strategic communication efforts.

Provide leadership and direction for major gifts, corporate and foundation gifts, planned gifts, and donor relations teams. Directly involved in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts. Oversee the moves management system and the management of fundraising metrics to ensure the major gift team is achieving ambitious fundraising goals.Work collaboratively with campus partners, including marketing and communications, faculty, students, and campus leaders to develop new and innovative campaign initiatives designed to attract and retain a diverse and passionate major gift donor base.

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the individual major donor program to meet SUNY Geneseo’s major gifts fundraising goal and build the individual donor base. I raise private, corporate, and foundation support, primarily from donors in the New York City and Long Island region. Responsibilities include:• Developing and managing a portfolio of prospective and current donors and soliciting major gifts• Building out a comprehensive Planned and Legacy Giving program• Assisting in creating goals and strategies for the development department and providing guidance on industry best practices• Creating case statements and proposals for support, and managing the systems and databases required for tracking• Identifying, recruiting, training, and management of volunteers• Producing materials and tools to communicate regularly with donors and supporters• Identifying and implementing opportunities for donor recognition, stewardship and appreciation

I led the development team and fundraising efforts within the College of Art & Design. I traveled on behalf of the University meeting with alumni, friends, corporate partners, and parents to help raise both engagement and major gift support of initiatives in the College and across campus. I worked collaboratively with the College Dean and other academic leadership across campus to engage donors and potential donors, inviting them to support the university's mission.I secured gifts in excess of $3 million through a combination of giving vehicles including cash, highly appreciated securities, trusts and bequests. I designed the campaign and created the gift table and case statement for a $7 million renovation of the Industrial Design studio. I worked with college leadership and staff to plan and execute the Palate for the Arts lunch series to engage local arts patrons. I recruited and managed volunteers for various roles on campus and in alumni communities nationwide.

I helped the University of Rochester surpass its $1.2 billion Meliora Challenge campaign goal, working with alumni, parents and friends primarily in the Southeast US. I helped build and strengthen U of R networks in those areas through membership in the George Eastman Circle, the leadership & recognition society named for the University's greatest philanthropist.

I managed $40 million in assets, including individual stocks, bonds, mutual funds and alternative investments through the most tumultuous market environment since the Great Depression. I worked with more than 100 clients to build, implement and monitor their long-term financial plans, coordinating and executing their estate-planning strategies including philanthropic planned giving.I added new clients using multiple simultaneous strategies including telephone, mail and in-person solicitation, hosted educational seminars, networked and obtained referrals from attorneys, accountants and other centers of influence.I developed long-term relationships with existing clients, which helped me to gather additional assets and obtain referrals.

I built a book of business from scratch to $20 million in assets in two years through cold calling, running educational seminars, networking and referrals. I worked with approximately 80 clients to manage their portfolios of stocks, bonds and mutual funds. I helped families identify their personal and financial goals and then implemented a plan to achieve those goals.

Managed client relationships responsible for $10 million in annual sales for worldwide book distributor serving major corporations, consulting firms and universities including Eastman Kodak, Xerox, 3M, Procter & Gamble, McKinsey & Company, University of Arizona, Purdue, Michigan State and Columbia University.Designed and implemented e-Commerce site to successfully compete with Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.Other responsibilities included supervising staff of ten customer service and purchasing employees, database design and management, computer programming (Visual Basic, ASP, PHP, Perl) and network administration.

Recipient of 1997 Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Continuing Coverage of a news story.I oversaw a three-person news room, managing assignments and anchoring a daily four-hour news/talk morning show. I was the substitute host for our one-hour current affairs interview program. I created and managed the program schedule to maximize ratings and sponsorship/advertising revenue and opportunities.

Recipient of numerous New York State Association of Broadcasters awards for excellence in news.I oversaw a two-person news room and anchored the daily four-hour news/talk morning show. I also covered breaking news and scheduled events, including regular meetings of Ithaca and Tompkins County governmental bodies.
