Chris has significantly and consistently exceeded all behavioral and job performance expectations for this role, and has made a significant impact for Christie Engineering. Chris was able to juggle multiple tasks of different topics (material testing, thermal testing, filter testing, optical testing and mechanical design) while keeping a great quality of work. When I gave him a task that was out of his expertise, he would take it on as a challenge and after a few days he would become the expert. Chris used a very high level of critical and analytical thinking skills to solve a major optical problem that will change the next generation of a projector. This problem will save Christie a lot of money and will make Christie's customers very happy. Without Chris's initiative and can-do attitude this would not have happened.During the term, Chris was able to conduct meetings in a very professional manner to discuss mechanical design with senior engineers. He also gave an excellent presentation at the end of the term that demonstrated his high level of communication and presentation skills. Not only was Chris excellent at the technical aspect at his job, but he also spent the last month of his term helping out a high school coop student. He took time to teach her about the product, and introduce her to mechanical engineering design. Show less

He successfully built a robotics program at our school and has grown the membership in this club significantly over the past few months. Chris is reliable, knowledgeable, creative, committed and hard working. There was no task too large for Chris and no challenge ever too great. Chris approached every situation, without exception, with an open mind and a willingness to help.Chris has absolutely exceeded "all behavioural and developmental performance expectations in respect to output, quality, standards, delivery of goals and assignments". He is well deserving of this rating and will make a significant impact on any environment that is fortunate enough to have him on staff. Chris was a true asset to our school this term and I have no doubt that he will continue to be an asset for any company or organization that is lucky enough to have him on staff. We were thrilled with his performance this term and recommend him for any position or opportunity of his choosing. Show less

The main composition of the project had to be Lego-based, so Lego NXT motors, encoders, and other sensors were implemented to build a fully autonomous and unbeatable tic-tac-toe playing robot. Other structural pieces were either laser-cut or 3D printed in order to make a simpler but more sturdy design.Teammates programmed an intelligent game algorithm in C++ which was then accommodated to RobotC in order to fit the project criteria. In the game, the user was allowed to go first (in order to give him/her a fighting chance) and placed their felt 'X' on the plastic surface which the robot then read using a light intensity sensor and responded with its move. The outcome could only be a tie or a win for the robot, as the game algorithm took all cases into account and could think two steps ahead. Show less
