Directing strategy initiative and process improvement to transform a 40 year old international disaster relief non-governmental organization into a "networked NGO" that supports building the capacity of grass-roots community based organizations, nonprofits and social entrepreneurs improving community resilience.

Provided organizational and programmatic consulting to CBOs and NGOs in disaster relief, health, education and technology sectors, including business and continuity of operations planning, grant writing, donor development, program creation and implementation, process optimization, and grant-making.

Directed a multiyear grant to improve patient experience and increase access to hospital services for at-risk children throughout the Southwest US, Mexico and Central America. Chaired multidisciplinary task force of clinicians and senior administrators charged with optimizing internal processes including patient flow, education, and interdepartmental communication as hospital transitioned from charity-care to fee-for-service model. Conducted patient-centered design workshops to understand and address UX needs. Implemented process improvements that resulted in a 15% decrease in patient churn and a 20% increase in patient satisfaction scores.

Directed all grant-making and supply activities in the Americas for nonprofit disaster relief and development agency. Set program strategy and goals in the areas of Public Health, Health Care Capacity Building, and Health Emergency Preparedness. Fostered relationships with private, government, and foundation partners while using community-centered design principles with CBOs to ensure local participation in solution building. Selected, managed and evaluated over 30 competitive grants and projects totaling more than $7 million throughout the US. Co-directed projects in SE Asia, China, Haiti and Africa. Served on numerous state, national, and international workgroups.

Lead in the design, development, and implementation of technological and process solutions for federal, state, and local public health agencies, with a focus on inventory and clinic management, outbreak investigation, and surveillance. Served as process and strategy consultant to public health clients in issues of multi-agency collaboration and regionalization for health preparedness and response. Develop ed disaster response metrics and process evaluation. Managed and coordinated over 10 projects for California and Nevada state and county agencies and Puerto Rico Department of Health. Researched GIS applications for outbreak modeling and issues in complex health emergencies. Guest lectured at Cal State-Los Angeles graduate-level students in topic of health, disasters, and terrorism.

Key member of federally funded project assessing the preparedness and response capacity of state and local public health departments. Assess surveillance, epidemiology, and communications technologies (Focus Area B and G). Created disease outbreak scenarios and designed tabletop exercises. Developed exercises to train and assess the real-time response of departments to various disease reports. Performed qualitative analysis of findings.

AHRQ funded to develop national guidelines and interactive models for mass prophylaxis campaigns to be used by health planners in response to a pandemic and bioterrorism events. Co-created Bioterrorism and Epidemic Response Model. Acted as consultant to New York City’s Office of Emergency Management and Department of Health, CDC, and Toronto Health Department during SARS outbreak.

Epidemiologist in the Communicable Disease Division and member of the Hospital Surge Capacity team tasked with assessing NYC hospitals' ability to handle a surge of patients resulting from terrorist attack. Aided in public health outbreak investigations as necessary. Member of anthrax attack investigation team.

Biotechnology consultant in boutique firm. Assisted medical product manufacturers bring products to the market through epidemiological and pharmacoeconomic analysis. Directed over 35 projects, ranging from disease epidemiology to product placement in different health care settings.
