Cynthia has battled with over 20 years of substance abuse and other addictions such as criminal thinking, she has been in and out of incarceration. Left her children for the street life many times. She is a domestic violence, rape, and suicide survivor. Today She is a formally incarcerated chola in recovery from drugs and criminal behavior. She is a Chicana Rising scholar at Palomar college in San Marcos California .she works with an organization called lived experience, an organization that is partnered with the National conflict Resolution Center that focuses on mentoring promise youth.  She is  pleased to share that she is the chair women of an non-profit organization called homegirlz del Corazon, a program that is built on uplifting women that have faced traumas in their past experiences through healing and empowerment. She continues to further her education in sociology and Chicano studies and help the marginalized youth and adults by mentoring, caring and compassionately giving back what she learned.
