In this role, my key responsibilities were:• Ownership of designing, building and running the technical platforms necessary to deliver the Red Helix managed service portfolio• Working with the Chief Operations Officer to assess new technologies and their capabilities• Working with third party suppliers to integrate their technology where required• Identifying new potential Red Helix product opportunities or enhancements to the product and work with the relevant teams to support the delivery of these• Defining the key features, specifications and requirements of the products based on client and market needs• Participate as a technical subject matter expert in the project to deliver the product ready for launch and Pre-sales enablement including in-depth technical training for the pre and post sales engineers• Working closely with the Marketing team, technology partners and our external PR advisors on providing a voice as our subject matter expert on the technology USPs to the market and our clients• Providing input to the future strategy for Red Helix and the products that the company should be focusing on in order to continue growth whilst delivering value to our clients• Working with sales and marketing teams as an advisor on the technical positioning of products to support them in large opportunities• Reviewing and recommending new network & security technologies from the Red Helix portfolio to improve services & customer positioning

In this role, my primary goal is to work with the sales team to strategise, design and present solutions to customers. The products I work with range from visibility devices such as Network Packet Brokers, to application and network performance monitoring devices. My specialty is in security where I integrate a large manner of security products from Inline IPS and SSL Decryption services to passive security analysis. As part of our professional services offerings, both inside and outside of the security sector, I also test and validate products/designs using advanced methods of traffic generation and automation.As part of the demonstration environment at Phoenix Datacom, I run the day to day operations of the CyberLab, an advanced and adaptable demonstration facility. In the CyberLab, we use the same capabilities that use to test in professional services to demonstrate the potential of all the solutions we can provide using this fully automated facility.From a Post-Sales role, I also support the devices we sell and provide professional services for them, whether that be local or remote at any time of the day. These professional services range from install/implementation work through to writing and delivering training courses.

When I first joined Phoenix Datacom, I started by supporting the internal IT infrastructure where I got active hands on experience with managing live networks and carefully planning changes with Risk assessments and procedures. On top of the internal IT Management, I was learning the company portfolio as well as going through my Level 3 NVQ Apprenticeship, which I completed early and passed.

In my role on the Service Desk it was my responsibility to document and, where possible, fix problems with the organisation’s work stations and network based services. In addition to my role, I had to help the organisation adopt better strategies for more efficiently dealing with faults as they came in to the service desk, such as bringing the responsibility of the more menial tasks in to the level 1 team.
