The department manages IT spend of approximately £50m per annum across the UK, Middle East, India, the US and Asia-Pacific. I work with people at all levels within the organisation, from CIO and local and regional Directors to technical specialists, influencing procurement strategy and identifying and balancing the key requirements, drivers and priorities of multiple projects, including:• Tender process to upgrade UK SAN systems from EMC to NetApp and carry out the subsequent migration of data and services, saving £180,000 in hardware, support and services costs.• Re-negotiation of an unfavourable managed print service contract for offices in Hong Kong, replacing the supplier’s terms with our own standard framework agreement and securing an improved SLA with better recompense for poor service.• Negotiation and consolidation of a number of global support contracts with multiple suppliers into single supplier agreements including, among others, Cisco switch hardware (saving £250,000 over 3 years), NetApp storage hardware (saving £70,000) and Checkpoint firewall hardware (saving £100,000 over 3 years);• Procurement lead on a multi-phase project to supply, configure and install new network switches across UK sites, fixing hardware prices for the duration of the project and balancing both fixed-price and T&M pricing for different aspects of the service to achieve savings of £500,000. This role was primarily focused on IT procurement but also involved working with other departments including Finance, Claims and Facilities. Work was largely project-driven and entailed working with key stakeholders to ensure that projects were implemented successfully, on time and with the best commercial deals. Key achievements:• Securing savings of £375,000 as procurement lead on a project to update and outsource desktop estate from standard to thin client, valued at £6.75m over four years.• Savings of £500,000 over 3 years through a tender process for manned guarding services across our three offices.• Savings of over £90,000 on a £260,000 project to implement a new software and hardware solution to automate the capture and classification of claims documents. During this period I was largely assigned to a single key outsourcing project supporting the Head of Purchasing in outsourcing our IT hosting, valued at £26m over 5 years. My role in the project included working with an external consultant and internal representatives to establish baseline costs and build the RFP document, and then as part of the core project team to carry out detailed analysis of the proposals.

I provided support to the two Senior Co-ordinators in contract negotiations, while moving on to negotiate contracts independently. In addition to this I was responsible for developing and providing spend analysis for review meetings with heads of departments, and working with Finance to implement and manage a supplier risk monitoring system. Key achievements in this role included tendering for a cleaning services in two regional offices, saving £65,000 on annual spend of £300,000.
