Promoted to Professor in October 2018.Over a substantial academic career I have developed new curricula at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and supervised several PhD students to successful completion. My professional roles have included student recruitment and marketing, internationalisation and partnership development. A focus on public engagement has led to a number of interdisciplinary outputs with external partners and high-profile events at arts and science festivals in Cheltenham, Norwich, Canterbury and Hong Kong. I am Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, Board member of the Canterbury Festival and a Governor of the University of Kent Academies Trust.A commitment to the delivery of an exceptional research-led education to students - recognised with a National Teaching Fellowship award from the Higher Education Academy (now Advance HE) - has also ensured a depth of knowledge in the biological sciences, notably in pharmacology and drug development, cancer biology and science communication.
