About Dan Lowe
Dan Lowe is a Principal Technical Animator at Santa Monica Studio. Colleagues describe them as "I was so impressed with Dan's animation showreel, as it contained the subtly of character motion only usually achieved by using motion capture, that I recruited him into the animation team at Bizarre Creations in early 2006. Once he started work, he quickly adapted his animating process to suit working in Motion Builder. His intelligence and constant keenness meant that it was easy for him to pick up the workings of the game’s complex animation system. He developed any understanding of how to, not only, capture and clean up motion capture data but, more importantly, how to use this data within his animation cycles. Dan was instrumental in the development of the animation system used to control the game characters in James Bond 007: BloodStone. He was responsible for the base movement animations of the Bond player character, producing some truly great solutions to keep the player character’s movement smooth and flowing but still responsive. Although hard working and serious about his work, Dan's friendly and jokey manner makes him fun to work with. He is a hardcore games player; constantly playing the latest releases in his spare time. He analyses each game and would often use this knowledge to inspire and enhance his animation work. Dan is keen to understand the ‘dark arts of game design’ and passionately researches this subject in his spare time; often reading articles and listening to podcasts about game design. He has an incredible drive to create not just great animation but also great games. He has been a valuable assets within the character team and within the company. Dan is easy to work with and would be a massive asset to any team and was always my "go to" guy if I wanted someone to bounce off, he is logical, organised, autonomous and fast whilst his knowledge and ability far out-weigh his time in the industry. With the industry as small as it is, I'm sure our paths will cross again and I for one look forward to the day that I get to work with him again."
